In September Country Life featured bathrooms with the thoughts of top interior designer, James Thurstan Waterworth. In the piece he recommends the Salvo website (salvoweb.com) to source 'an old, heavy cast iron tub.' He goes onto explain why it makes sense to choose something old and original, 'the bath looks as if it has always been there.' Then to completely relax, if possible, enjoy a 'great view' in the tub by putting the bath (or toilet ) near a window.
James also suggests adding character and warmth to your bathroom design with antique timber floorboards, antique brass, vintage textiles, reclaimed stone and antique furniture.
The Salvo website provides both a comprehensive worldwide dealer directory and online marketplace for architectural salvage and antiques including bathrooms and accessories.
See the link to the full Country Life feature below and a big thank you to James for the mention. Thurstan Design is listed in the Salvo directory.

The first two images show a French antique slipper bath and Bateau bath, still available for sale from Mongers, both of which featured in the Salvo Fest celebrating our 30th Pearl anniversary. All their baths are re-surfaced, painted exterior and supplied with new waste fittings in chrome, nickel or polished brass. Mongers Architectural Salvage are Salvo Code members. All the other old cast iron bath tubs shown are for sale on the Salvo online marketplace: salvoweb.com
