A bar is the ideal place to relax, either in an office or home space. A bar design incorporating reclaimed materials and industrial or vintage fixtures is the best way to create instant character and can easily be achieved on a budget.

Freelance set designer and interiors decorator, Jen Chu, took on such a project for a friend with a small but growing company, InTheMo. The design she created was finished a few years ago now but it remains as fresh as ever. She achieved the perfect space where these young creatives could discuss projects with each other or with potential clients over a beer or an espresso. The bar became a great place for film screenings, music events or parties too. See the link for images of the build and end result.

The main image is a unique panelled bar created using sections of vintage doors, drawers and cabinets by Agapanthus Interiors. Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Aubusson and Old White has been applied to create the layered effect. The piece was distressed and waxed to accentuate the texture. See the SalvoWEB Recraft For Sale section for more details at the link below.

Architectural salvage yards often have a custom joinery team which can create a home bar from salvaged materials. See the image of a custom bar made from an old door and reclaimed wood by the team at Tampa Bay Salvage. Viking Reclamation currently has a ready made reclaimed wood bar for sale on SalvoWEB.

If you are up to making your own bar then salvage yards are the best place to source reclaimed wood, vintage furniture and accessories. Find mahogany bar panels from dealers like Robert Mills and classic malt shop stools for sale from Schiller's Architectural Design and Salvage. These would provide beautiful character to any home bar. Both currently for sale on SalvoWEB.

More inspiration for reclaimed and salvaged bars can be found from Pinterest especially salvowebpins. These include design ideas for smaller spaces such as making a bar from an old unused dresser and vintage crates. Plus an upcylced mini industrial style reclaimed wood bar and wine rack from Salvo Fair 2016.
