Wellers Auctioneers were instructed to hold a one day 'no reserve' sale at Worleys Farm Estate, near Henley on Saturday. Gary Wallis, who helped engineer the sale, said they were blessed with the weather, the turnout was good and online bidding was a success. He said "The idea of having an old fashioned house sale auction integrated with modern technology and online bidding worked really well. Some people came to have a look in the morning, and then went home to bid online from their iPads whilst they watched the rugby!"
"A lot of the architectural stuff went for low prices, but it didn't matter too much because the sale was orchestrated to make room, and it certainly has cleared the decks. The auctioneers managed to keep the room full of buyers until around 8pm. The owners then went around with fizzy wine and everyone said what a fun day they'd had."
"There were lots of trade buyers and around 300 online bidders." Gary also had his first foray into the world of social media for the sale."There was a bit of a buzz on twitter for the sale, and on Facebook too. I don't normally do that kind of thing, but it seemed to get the word about brilliantly." When asked if any one item did particularly well, Gary said "From what I can remember everything went for a reasonable price, even if a few things didn't quite make their guide price. Although the motorbike I bid on, and won, did very well!"
