Salvo Fair

The first Salvo Fair was held in 1997 in Surrey and until 2014 it was the only architectural salvage fair in the world. The Salvo Fair itself has been acknowledged by many as the best in its field for unique salvage, reclaimed building materials, decorative and garden antiques. Often featuring larger pieces of architectural salvage such as the Baltic Exchange and part of Westminster Bridge. For many years it was held at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire and then for three years at the private estate of Sir William and Lady McAlpine, Oxfordshire.

The last original Salvo Fair held was, SALVO17, which proved to be a great success with over 90 exhibitors and a green living fest, which included zero waste food by Silo and an eco and vintage fashion marquee. Organic wine specialist, Vintage Roots kindly sponsored the charity preview event.

Salvo Fest, held in June 2021, combined the best bits of the original Salvo Fair in a virtual and real world event to toast Salvo’s 30th Pearl Anniversary. Rather than digital versus physical, it combined a sprinkling of Salvo Fair magic with the iconic architectural salvage and garden pieces but with less heavy lifting and a smaller carbon footprint. Exhibitors, such as Architectural Heritage, created their own pop-ups so that visitors could visit local events. A special auction of architectural salvage was also held by T W Gaze in Norfolk. Team Salvo hosted a variety of online talks with trade professionals, designers and celebrities worldwide.

The magic of a Salvo Fair has always been the ability to attract everything from big architectural and garden pieces and reclaimed building materials to small collectibles from dealers world wide and the ability to attract worldwide buyers ranging from construction professionals, designers, architects, builders, reclaimed home renovators and collectors to families with well behaved dogs, on a lead, all enjoying a fun day out hunting for unique treasures.
