Reclaimed wide pine boards

Ref 202006 Reclaimed wide pine boards – brushed on their upper surface in our workshops to give a a cleaner upper face, which feels great underfoot. This is clearly visible once finished on some of the photos. This reference 202006 is a series of consignments of “cheese boards” with intriguing provenance, because these old pine shelf boards were used by a cheese-maker for storing and maturing the cheeses in caves underground.
When surplus to requirements they are rejected after so many years of use, so we have reclaimed them for re-use as thick floor boards, partitions or interior wall cladding, or for rustic furniture-making. Their upper surfaces are slightly worn by the cheeses sliding over them over time, thereby providing variable character and patina. We then brush their upper surface to great effect.
These truly reclaimed boards are from a French cheese-maker in the Jura region of France, and the timber is believed to be “Sapin des Vosges”, a slow-growth spruce. We can supply them either straight-edge “as is”, or for an extra charge we can mill tongues and grooves and reduce their thickness.
