Caen limestone is well documented as having been shipped to England following the 1066 Norman Conquest by William the Conqueror. Caen limestone was used in the construction of the Tower of London, Canterbury Cathedral, and Norwich Cathedral and Castle and many others, so can be considered authentic for historic English projects as well as French or "French theme" restoration projects.
