Bath 515, a double ended fireclay bath manufactured by the J.L. Mott Iron Works, N.Y. which was established in 1828
The interior is glazed, as is the plinth. The side walls were painted, which is being removed and these can be sealed to produce a raw clay finish, painted in a colour of choice or glazed. The taps are original with a rather tired plating. The tap unit will be refurbished and can be finished in polished brass or nickel
The dimensions are 1680mm long x 810 wide x 550 high. The bath sits directly on the floor and the base of the bath is shaped to allow the water to drain through the bath wall and out through the plunger waste
The top of the plunger waste is engraved " THE J.L. MOTT IRON WORKS N.Y. PAT'D DEC 7TH 1875" the bath appears in the J.L. Mott catalogue of 1907
